THIS IS JAPAN is a Japanese twin-guitar, twin-vocal rock band formed in 2011 by four seniors and juniors from a club at Sophia University. The group began as a cover band, then started writing original songs and expanded its activity beyond the campus scene. The band is based in Japan and maintains its official website at http://thisisjapan.net/.
On August 14, 2014, THIS IS JAPAN released its first nationally distributed full album, "THIS IS JAPAN TIMES". It later planned and produced the compilation album "NOT FORMAL ～NEW ALTERNATIVE～", which was issued on November 22, 2017. In December of that year, the band held its second one-man concert at Shimokitazawa Shelter.
On May 2, 2018, the band released the 2nd mini-album "FROM ALTERNATIVE". It also arranged and performed "体の芯からまだ燃えているんだ" for the film "音量を上げろタコ!なに歌ってんのか全然わかんねぇんだよ!!", and provided "SUNNY" for the film "ギャングース".
In 2020, THIS IS JAPAN made its major debut with キューンミュージック through the digital single "Not Youth But You". That was followed by "HEARTBEAT" and the CD single "new world", the ending theme for the second season of "ノー・ガンズ・ライフ".
