The Kaleidoscope is a Japanese band with a melodic, guitar-driven pop rock sound. Its history began in 1989, when three high school friends started playing together in Hiroshima. After reuniting in 1997, the band made its official debut on October 28, 1998 with "River flows," produced by 織田哲郎, and released music through Avex Group. That melodic approach also extended to anime theme songs, which brought the band to a wider audience; "fish" was used as an ending theme for One Piece.
In 1999, The Kaleidoscope performed street lives centered on Yokohama and in other parts of Japan. In 2001, "愛すべきひとよ" was used in a サトウ製薬ストナ commercial. The band later held a one-man live at 渋谷公会堂 on July 3, 2003.
In 2004, they created "ふさわしい場所" as a commercial song. The band disbanded on September 30 that year, and the song was later remade by Ricken's. On July 3, 2013, ten years after the 渋谷公会堂 concert, The Kaleidoscope reunited for a one-night one-man live at Yokohama Thumb Up.
