Birth name: Atsushi Shirakawa (白川 篤史) Tenmon (天門), born Atsushi Shirakawa in 1971, is a Japanese music composer from Tokyo, Japan. He is known for a career that spans both video game music and film-related projects, and he first became active through work in Japan's game industry before building a lasting association with Makoto Shinkai's early films. He worked at Nihon Falcom Corporation as one of the members of Falcom Sound Team J.D.K., where he composed music for many Falcom games. During that period, he wrote a significant amount of music for the company, with Brandish standing out as one of his most notable credits and an important part of his early reputation. Tenmon's connection with Makoto Shinkai began when the two knew each other as co-workers at Minori. Since Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko, he has composed music for Shinkai's works and helped define the emotional tone of those projects. His soundtracks are closely associated with Hoshi no Koe, Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho, Byousoku 5 Centimeter, and Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo, which remain among the works most closely linked to his name.
