Suitei Shoujo (推定少女)

Suitei Shoujo (推定少女) was a Japanese pop duo that debuted in August 2001. The group consisted of Rino (Nikaido Rino 二階堂梨乃, born April 9, 1987) and Lissa (Abe Risa 安倍莉沙, born September 8, 1987), and their early image quickly made them one of the more talked-about duos of the period. They became known in Japan as the "Japanese t.A.T.u" because of their provocative outfits and the attitude they projected toward each other. That comparison helped define their public image and set them apart from other pop acts active at the time, giving Suitei Shoujo a reputation built as much on style and persona as on their music. The duo disbanded on March 31, 2006. Lissa stopped all of her activities in the entertainment business that same year, bringing her career in the spotlight to a close. Their split marked the end of Suitei Shoujo as a duo, but both members remained part of the broader Japanese entertainment landscape in different ways. Rino continued as an indie artist and model and later became known as Re:NO. In 2012, she joined the Japanese all-female metal band Aldious, extending her career into a different musical direction. Suitei Shoujo remains notable for its short but memorable run as a Japanese pop duo with a distinctive image and a later connection to the wider Japanese rock and metal scene through Rino.
