Biography

SIX LOUNGE is a Japanese three-piece rock band formed in 2012 in Oita City, Oita Prefecture. The band began when Yuumori Yamaguchi and Shintarou Nagamatsu, who were classmates in high school, started playing together; Riku Iwao joined in 2015, establishing the current lineup of Yuumori Yamaguchi on vocals and guitar, Riku Iwao on bass and backing vocals, and Shintarou Nagamatsu on drums and backing vocals. Built around guitar, bass, and drums, the group works in a lean trio format, and its sound moves between Japanese rock, j-pop, and pop rock. Early in its career, SIX LOUNGE won the grand prix at Oita Rock'n'Roll High School vol.6 and vol.7, becoming the first act to win the event twice in a row, and also received the audience award. After the sold-out one-man live "トラッシュ" on March 21, 2015, the band made its CD debut in 2015 on THE NINTH APOLLO, made its major-label debut in 2018 on ZEN MUSIC under Universal Music, and moved to Epic Records Japan in 2022 while remaining based in Oita. Its anime work includes "Kitakaze (キタカゼ)" for Boku no Hero Academia, "Kotoba ni sezu tomo (言葉にせずとも)" for Bleach, and "Sayonara ja Nai Hou ga Ii" for Saikyou no Ousama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru? In 2023, after singer-songwriter aiko introduced the album track "リカ" on television, the song became a viral hit, surpassing 230 million related views on TikTok by October 20, 2023 and giving the band its first No. 1 on Billboard Japan's TikTok Weekly Top20. In 2026, the band also released the music video for its opening song for The Beginning After the End Season 2. The band's official website is https://six-lounge.com/.
