Scha Dara Parr is a Japanese hip-hop group formed in July 1988. Bose and ANI started the group after meeting at Kuwasawa Design School, and DJ SHINCO soon joined. The trio debuted in 1990 and later released music through Avex Trax.
From the beginning, Scha Dara Parr worked within hip hop, but with a relaxed, playful approach that contrasted with harder strains of the genre. As Japan’s early rap scene was still building an audience, the group brought laid-back grooves, sharp wordplay, and a blend of hip-hop with pop and funk influences.
Scha Dara Parr reached a wider audience through collaborations that linked hip-hop and mainstream Japanese pop. In 1993 it appeared on De La Soul's album "Buhloone Mindstate", and in 1994 its collaboration with Kenji Ozawa on "Konya wa Boogie Back" became a major crossover hit. "Konya wa Boogie Back smooth rap" later served as the ending theme of "Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!". Over time, Scha Dara Parr became an important reference point in the development of Japanese rap and pop-rap culture.
