SARD UNDERGROUND is a Japanese band formed in 2019 as a cover project for ZARD songs. Based in Japan and signed to Giza Studio, the group works in J-pop and pop rock while keeping ZARD reinterpretation at the center of its identity.
The project began as a four-member band and later became active as a three-member unit. Over time, the lineup changed, but the core idea remained the same: performing ZARD covers with a full band arrangement. In September 2024, the group’s activities changed again and the band became Yua Shinno’s solo project.
Yua Shinno is the current member and the public face of the project’s solo era. Past members include Miyuu Akasaka, who left in May 2021 due to poor health, as well as Izumi Sugioka and Hiromi Sakamoto, both of whom left in September 2024. Those changes mark the main stages in SARD UNDERGROUND’s evolution from a tribute-style band into a solo-led act under Shinno.
