Rumania Montevideo, also known as Montebi, is a Japanese j-pop band associated with Giza Studio. Formed in 1999, the group built a short but memorable run in Japanese pop music around melodic, radio-friendly songs and a compact discography.
The band entered the market in 1999 with its first mini-album, "JET PLANE", released through an indie label. That release marked the beginning of their recorded career and introduced Rumania Montevideo to listeners before the group moved into its major-label phase. Soon after, the band made its major debut with the single "Still for Your Love", which became a significant success and reached #9 on the Oricon weekly charts. The song remains one of the key points of reference for understanding the group’s place in the Japanese pop scene.
Rumania Montevideo disbanded in 2002 following the release of the album "MO' BETTER TRACKS". In March 2019, Makoto Miyoshi announced the revival of the band with his sister Mami and new members, opening a new chapter in the project’s history.
