ROOT FIVE is a Japanese vocal group formed in 2011. It emerged from the Nico Nico Douga online music scene and built a J-pop style around ensemble singing, clear melody lines, layered harmonies, and coordinated performances rather than a single front-facing lead. Its lineup has included けったろ, koma'n, みーちゃん, and ぽこた.
The group's start followed the July 30, 2011 "歌会360°LIVE" at nicofarre, where the participating singers announced that they would record together. They made their major-label debut as √5 with the single "MERRY GO ROUND" through avex trax on December 14, 2011. On May 7, 2014, the group adopted the name ROOT FIVE.
ROOT FIVE also performed "Kimi no Mirai (キミノミライ)," the ending theme for "Fairy Tail." In 2023, after discussions about the members' future lives, the group announced a hiatus and entered it after a live performance on December 23, 2023.
