+Plus

+Plus is a Japanese pop boy band formed in December 2008 and signed to Pony Canyon. The group built its identity around bright pop melodies, while also drawing on hip hop, reggae, and R&B influences that give its music a more rhythm-driven edge than straightforward J-pop. Yoshikazu Kotani is among the names associated with the group. A major part of +Plus’s image was that its members had already worked as actors before joining the band, bringing performance experience that shaped the project from the start. From the beginning, +Plus was presented not only as a pop unit but as an act where presence, versatility, and stage appeal mattered as much as melody. That crossover background helped the group stand out within Japanese pop by pairing accessible songs with a polished, screen-ready style and a public image rooted in both music and acting.
