Naomi Campbell (born May 22, 1970 in Lambeth) is a British model, actress, and singer. She began appearing in media as a child, with early music video work in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and was scouted in Covent Garden at 15.
After signing with Elite Model Management, she built an international career in runway and advertising. She appeared on the cover of Elle in April 1986, and in August 1988 became the first Black model to appear on the cover of Vogue France. She later appeared on the covers of British, Japanese, and Chinese Vogue, as well as Time, and became one of the defining supermodels of the late 1980s and 1990s.
Alongside her fashion career, Campbell pursued music in the 1990s. She was featured on Vanilla Ice's 1991 single "Cool as Ice" and sang "Heaven's Girl" on Quincy Jones's Q's Jook Joint. In 1995, she released her debut album Baby Woman, which included the single "Love and Tears" and was notably successful in Japan. Her music also appears in anime through "LA・LA・LA LOVE SONG", used as an ending theme for ReLIFE.
