Mr.Children

Mr.Children is a Japanese rock band formed in Tokyo in 1989 and led by vocalist and guitarist Kazutoshi Sakurai. The group’s lineup also includes Kenichi Tahara, Keisuke Nakagawa, and Hideya Suzuki, and it has released music through Toy's Factory. Their sound is rooted in j-rock and pop rock, with melodic songwriting, emotional ballads, and polished production that helped them become one of the most prominent names in Japanese popular music. Across their career, Mr.Children built a reputation for songs that combine introspective lyrics with accessible hooks, anthemic rock energy, acoustic-driven ballads, and expansive mid-tempo tracks. That range has supported a long run of successful albums and singles and helped define modern Japanese rock in the 1990s and beyond. The band’s ability to evolve without losing its core identity has been central to its longevity, making Mr.Children a key reference point for listeners searching for Japanese rock with both commercial reach and lasting artistic impact.
