Mikuni Shimokawa (下川みくに), born March 19, 1980, in Shinhidaka, Hokkaido, is a Japanese j-pop and anison singer whose career began in the late 1990s. She first entered the music industry in 1998 as a member of the girl idol group Checkicco, and that experience gave her a foundation in idol-pop before she moved into solo work.
As a solo artist, Shimokawa became strongly associated with anime theme songs and built a style around clear melodies, expressive vocals, and direct emotional delivery. Her early musical training in piano and her experience in a school brass band helped shape that sound, giving her arrangements a sense of structure and flexibility. Released through Pony Canyon, her catalog balances upbeat pop with more reflective songs, and it reflects the mix of polish and sincerity that has made her a familiar name in anime music circles.
