Mikuni Shimokawa

Mikuni Shimokawa (下川みくに), born March 19, 1980, in Shinhidaka, Hokkaido, is a Japanese J-pop and anison singer. Her early musical training in piano and her experience in a school brass band came before a recording career centered on vocals, much of it released through Pony Canyon. She entered the music industry in 1998 as a member of the girl idol group Checkicco, then moved into solo work in 1999. As a solo artist, Shimokawa became closely associated with anime theme songs. Among them were the "Full Metal Panic!" themes "Tomorrow", "Karenai Hana", and "Minami Kaze". She also performed "All the Way" for "Kino no Tabi" and "Kimi ga Iru Kara (君がいるから)" for "Fairy Tail". Beyond singing, she took part as a voice actress in 『フルメタル・パニック?ふもっふ』 and later expanded her activities across Asia. In 2009, her album 『翼 〜Very Best of Mikuni Shimokawa〜』 received an IFPI Hong Kong best sales award in the J-pop/K-pop category. She resumed her singer activities in 2017 with the best album 「プラチナムベスト 下川みくに～青春アニソン・カバーアルバム」 and the one-man live "ただいま。".
