MBLAQ is a South Korean boy group created by RAIN under J. Tune Camp and formed on October 15, 2009. The group was introduced in 2009 through opening performances at RAIN concerts on October 9 and 10, then released its first mini album, JUST BLAQ, on October 14, 2009. MBLAQ debuted with Seungho, G.O, Lee Joon, Thunder, and Mir, and that five-member lineup defined the group’s early years. Its music centered on k-pop that blended pop, R&B, and dance music, with performance-focused choreography and strong vocal lines.
From its debut period onward, MBLAQ widened its audience with songs such as "Oh Yeah," "Y," and "Mona Lisa." The group also built a substantial presence in Japan through official releases and promotions. It made its Japanese debut with "Your Luv" on May 4, 2011, reached No. 1 on the Oricon daily chart and No. 2 on the weekly chart, and drew about 46,500 people to its release events. MBLAQ also performed "Baby U!" as the opening theme for Beelzebub.
Lee Joon and Thunder left in December 2014 at the end of their contracts. After that, MBLAQ continued as a three-member group with Seungho, G.O, and Mir.
