Mayumi Gojo (Gojou Mayumi, 五條真由美) was born on February 12, 1972 in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. She is a singer associated with Love&Light and was previously part of Hyper Voice Managements. After graduating from university, she worked an office job for a time before deciding to pursue music, training at a voice school and starting out as a backup singer for J-pop artists.
Her break came when her voice trainer introduced her to the late Miki Matsubara, who asked her to sing an insert song for the 1999 TV anime Ojamajo Doremi. That song, "Mahou de Choi²", became her debut, and she later recorded several more songs for the series. In 2004, she performed the opening theme for the first Pretty Cure series, "Danzen! Futari wa PreCure", one of her best-known songs, and it won the Radio Kansai Award for Best Theme Song at the 9th Animation Kobe Awards.
Gojo released her first original album, Iridescent, in 2005 on an independent label. Marvelous Entertainment re-released it in 2007 as Iridescent+ with three additional tracks, and that same year she issued Mayumi Gojou Vocal Best from Futari wa PreCure, a compilation of her Pretty Cure songs. In 2008, she joined Project.R to sing for the Super Sentai series.
