May J. is a singer from Yokohama. Her father is from Kansai, and her mother has roots in Iran, Russia, Spain, the UK, and Turkey. She is fluent in Japanese, English, and Persian. Real name: May (Jamileh) Hashimoto. She gained popularity by winning karaoke 26 times on "Kanjani no Shiwake∞" without losing once from June 16, 2012, until before May 3, 2014, when she experienced her first defeat. In addition, she hosts an English show called "J Melo," where she introduces Japanese music to the world for NHK World.
