Biography

Manaka Iwami is a Japanese voice actress from Saitama Prefecture, born on April 30, 1998, and a member of Raccoon Dog. Her name in Japanese is 石見舞菜香. She is known for performances built on subtle expression, quiet intensity, and emotional shading, which have made her a recognizable seiyuu in anime casting. Her interest in becoming a voice actress began after watching Ai Kayano's performance in Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai while she was in middle school. Iwami has said that she was not an articulate child and felt she needed to start training earlier than other people, which led her to persuade her father to let her attend seiyuu training school. In 2016, she was selected by audition to play Maquia in Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou, Mari Okada's directorial debut; the film was released in 2018 and became a major milestone in her career. She made her television debut in 2017 with Tsuki ga Kirei and has continued to build a career in roles that suit her restrained but expressive style. More recently, she has appeared in the second season of Magilumiere Co. Ltd., voiced the Japanese dub of Kasa Shoujo, and sang the opening theme for Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsu no Ma ni ka Dame Ningen ni Sarete Ita Ken Memorial Vacation.
