Biography
Magic Party is a Japanese J-pop and electro group from Japan. Formed in 2008 by 本田光史郎 and AIRI, the unit grew out of Honda's earlier band work: he formed MILKRUN in Kyoto in 1999, made a major debut with "夜空へと" in 2002, and continued under the name AUDIORULEZ until April 2005. AIRI debuted in 2005 after passing an audition tied to a television program in her home prefecture of Shiga. After meeting through Amuse in 2008, the pair began performing together in acoustic and band formats; verified databases list the group as active from 2009.
MAGIC PARTY released the limited single "エリナリ" in 2009, followed by the indie singles "Believe in Paradise," used as the ending theme for 深夜食堂, and "奇跡の夜," which marked a collaboration with 風味堂の渡和久. Their major debut single, "今夜はMAGIC BOX," appeared in 2010 as the theme song for the film NECK, and its coupling track "わがままJOYガール" was used for 豆腐姉妹. Later that year, "エガオノマホウ" was used as the opening theme for FAIRY TAIL. In 2011 the group released the Tower Records-exclusive single "CHEEK & WINK with カジヒデキ / DIG ME ! with ヒダカトオル" and the collaborative mini-album "2対5," and it announced its disbandment in June 2012.
