Biography

Kylee is a Japanese-American singer, model, and actress born in Chandler, United States, on May 25, 1994. Born to an American father and a Japanese mother, she began her career in 2008. Signed to Defstar Records, she first drew wider attention while still young by singing the United States national anthem at major NBA and MLB games in the United States. She then developed her work in Japan through a bilingual pop and rock style shaped by both J-pop and English-language music. Her early releases in Japan included the endings "Vacancy", "Just Breathe", and "Over U" for "Bounen no Xamdou". In 2009 she appeared as an opening act at both the Tokyo and Osaka dates of SUMMER SONIC 2009, becoming the festival's youngest performer on a main stage at age 15; she returned in 2010. That same year she made her major debut with "キミがいるから", the theme song for 『誰かが私にキスをした』, in which she also appeared. She released her first album, 『17』, in 2011, later performed the opening theme "Daisuki nano ni (大好きなのに)" for "Zetsuen no Tempest", and in 2012 held her first national tour, "17", while also entering Stanford University. Her activities in Japan ended in 2015 after Defstar Records was absorbed into SME Records.
