Keisuke Kuwata (桑田佳祐) is a Japanese singer-songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist born on 26 February 1956 in Chigasaki, Japan. Active since 1974, he made his major debut in 1978 as the vocalist of Southern All Stars, and is best known as the band's frontman. Working in rock and releasing through Victor Entertainment, he has also worked as a record producer, film composer, and film director.
While alternating between Southern All Stars and solo work, Kuwata began his solo career in 1987 with "悲しい気持ち (JUST A MAN IN LOVE)". His original albums include "Keisuke Kuwata", "孤独の太陽", and "がらくた". He has also released compilation albums such as "TOP OF THE POPS", "I LOVE YOU -now & forever-", and "いつも何処かで", and his 2021 mini-album was "ごはん味噌汁海苔お漬物卵焼き feat. 梅干し". His solo hits include "Johnny the Surfer", "白い恋人達", and "明日晴れるかな".
In anime, he performed "Hitotarashi (人誑し / ひとたらし)", the opening theme of "Akane-banashi", and "AKANE On My Mind ~Manjuu Kowai", its ending theme. In 2026, his work also included the release of an anime music video for "AKANE On My Mind〜饅頭こわい" and additional dates for his Summer Festival Tour 2026 in Aichi, Osaka, and Yokohama.
