Biography
Keiko Utoko (宇徳敬子) is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Kagoshima, Japan, born on April 7, 1967. Associated with J-pop and the singer-songwriter tradition, she is best known for her work with the idol group Mi-Ke and for a solo career that later expanded into backing vocals, songwriting, live performance, and radio. She has also been associated with Zain Records, and her career has stayed connected to the broader Japanese pop and Being-related music scene.
Her career began after she worked as a model for Stardust Promotion and later joined B.B.QUEENS as a chorus member. While performing in that group, Utoko and two other members formed Mi-Ke, which was active from 1991 to 1993 and helped establish her early profile in the Japanese pop scene. After Mi-Ke disbanded, she launched a solo career with the release of her first single, "Anata no Yume no Naka Sotto Nobiko Mitai". From there, she also became known as a backing vocalist for several Being-related artists, including Rina Aiuchi, U-ka saegusa IN db, FIELD OF VIEW, and others, expanding her reputation beyond idol activities and into the wider pop and anison-adjacent music scene.
In 2003, Utoko began performing live concerts, adding a more direct concert presence to her career. Around the same period, she also started writing lyrics and composing for Being artists such as Sparkling☆Point, showing a broader creative role as a songwriter and composer. In 2006, more than eight years after her last album, she released her fourth original album, "Yorokobi no Hana ga Saku ~True Kiss~". She also moved into radio work, hosting her own radio shows and further developing her presence as a media personality. In 2026, she appeared on "Odoru! Sanma Goten!!", showing that her name continues to surface in Japanese media alongside her music career.
