I WiSH is a Japanese pop unit formed in 2002 by nao and Ai Kawashima (川嶋あい). Releasing through SME Records, the duo worked in a melodic j-pop style. Their music centered on clear vocal lines and straightforward songwriting, with soft ballad textures, bright pop melodies, and sentimental arrangements associated with early-2000s mainstream Japanese pop.
The duo's signature song, "Asu e no Tobira (明日への扉)," became a major hit. It remained on the Oricon chart for more than a year, sold about 900,000 copies, and later served as the ending theme of ReLIFE.
I WiSH ended its original run with the album WISH, released on March 24, 2005, as 川嶋あい shifted to solo activities. The compilation BEST WiSHES followed on February 8, 2006.
The duo reunited for a one-night performance on February 21, 2008. In 2023, I WiSH resumed activities as part of 川嶋あい's 20th debut anniversary project.
