Hyadain

Hyadain is the stage name of Kenichi Maeyamada (前山田 健一), a Japanese musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, and singer born in Osaka, Japan, on July 4, 1980. He began playing piano at the age of three and later started programming music with synthesizers. In 2007, he launched his professional career. He first drew wide attention through self-produced music released online under the name Hyadain. From there, he built a career at the intersection of internet-native music, anime music, J-pop, and character-song culture. He is associated with the Lantis label, and his work is known for energetic pop writing that blends humor, technical precision, and a strong sense of melody. A defining trait of Hyadain’s sound is his inventive arrangement style and vocal approach. He often layers contrasting male and female lines in a call-and-response format, giving his songs a theatrical quality. His music frequently combines catchy hooks, playful production choices, and precise composition, particularly in openings, endings, and character songs. He made his major debut as a singer in 2011 with the Nichijou opening theme "Hyadain no Kakakata☆Kataomoi - C", for which he also handled the lyrics, composition, and arrangement as Kenichi Maeyamada. The series also featured "Hyadain no Joujou Yuujou (ヒャダインのじょーじょーゆーじょー)". He later performed "Start it right away", the ending theme of Kuroko no Basket, and has continued to work on collaborations including remix work for EBiDAN’s “Yes! Tokyo,” a new song for Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku after six years, and a new theme song for Aぇ! group with Noriyuki Makihara.
