High and Mighty Color

High and Mighty Color was a Japanese rock band from Okinawa, formed in 2003 and active until 2010. The group grew out of Anti-Nobunaga, a heavy metal band in which MEG, SASSY, Yusuke, Kazuto, and mACKAz had played together. After meeting female vocalist Maakii in 2003, they formed High and Mighty Color and started activities in January 2004. Signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan's SME Records, the band had a six-member lineup: Maakii and Yusuke on vocals, Kazuto and MEG on guitars, mACKAz on bass, and SASSY on drums. Its sound was built around melodic hooks, hard-edged guitar work, and male-female dual vocals. The band made its major-label debut in 2005 with "Pride," which was used as the second opening for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Its anime work also included "Ichirin no Hana (一輪の花)" for Bleach and "Dreams" for Darker than Black. Across albums such as Goover, Gō on Progressive, San, ROCK PIT, and swamp man, High and Mighty Color continued that blend of rock and pop before lineup changes and the end of its activities in 2010.
