Biography
Hi-Fi CAMP is a Japanese music group formed in Sendai in January 2007. The four-member lineup consists of KIM, SOYA, AIBA, and TOSHIRO. Rather than relying on a single frontperson, the group was built around two vocalists, a keyboardist, and a DJ: KIM handles vocals and was born in Aomori on 1981-12-08, SOYA handles vocals and MC duties and was born in Sendai on 1983-10-19, AIBA plays keyboards and was born in Sendai on 1984-02-09, and TOSHIRO is the group's DJ and was born in Sendai on 1983-07-03. Hi-Fi CAMP was formed when KIM and AIBA, who had been in the same band, joined SOYA and TOSHIRO, who were active at the Sendai club SENDAI Neo BrotherZ; the group belonged to Edward Entertainment Group, and all four members lived in Sendai.
After signing with For Life Music in October 2007, Hi-Fi CAMP made its major debut with the single 「キズナ」 on 2008-06-04. In the same year, the group wrote SMAP's single 「この瞬間、きっと夢じゃない」. Hi-Fi CAMP released the album 『1st BEST』 in 2009, 『2nd BEST』 in 2010, 『SUNRISE』 and the mini-album 『Love For All』 in 2012, and the final original album 『LIFE GOES ON』 in 2013. When 『2nd BEST』 was released, TOSHIRO also prepared 「2nd BEST MEGA MIX」 for free distribution through the official homepage. The group later moved to Pony Canyon and performed "Kono Te Nobashite (この手伸ばして)" and "Boys Be Ambitious!!" as ending themes for Fairy Tail.
In 2012, after the Great East Japan Earthquake had also affected the members, Hi-Fi CAMP launched the recovery-support project 「わらしべ長者・絆」. On 2013-03-20, the group announced that it would disband following SOYA's departure, and it ended activities on 2013-06-04 with a live at Sendai darwin, the fifth anniversary of its major debut. A best album, 『んでねBEST』, was released on 2013-07-03.
