Biography

GROUP Tamashii is a Japanese comedy rock band formed in 1995 by actors from the theatrical company Otona Keikaku. It started as a three-man comedy act built around guitar and shouted routines, then expanded into a full band in 1997. The lineup came to include Sadawo Abe, Kankurō Kudō, Seminosuke Murasugi, Sarutoki Minagawa, Ryūichi Kozono, Hiroki Miyake, and Taku Tomizawa. Kankurō Kudō has written most of the group's lyrics and comedy scripts, while the members have long balanced the band with acting and other work. In 2002, the band released the album "Run魂Run". It moved to Kioon Music in 2005 and later that year appeared on the 56th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. In anime music, GROUP Tamashii performed "Dadada", the OP of "Beelzebub". In 2011, the band played its first Nippon Budokan concert as the final date of its 15th-anniversary national tour. In 2020, GROUP Tamashii announced a dissolution effective December 30. It returned with a reunion live in January 2022 at Nakano Sunplaza. In March 2024, Otona Keikaku announced that Seminosuke Murasugi's acting activities would be suspended and that GROUP Tamashii would continue as a six-member band. In June 2025, after about a year without one, the group announced the one-man live show "Haneda de Tampatsu no Baito". Its official website is g-tamashii.com.
