French Kiss (フレンチ・キス) is a Japanese pop trio and a sub-unit of AKB48. The group was announced on June 28, 2010, bringing together three AKB48 members under the French Kiss name.
The members of French Kiss are Kashiwagi Yuki (柏木由紀), Takajo Aki (高城亜樹), and Kuramochi Asuka (倉持明日香). As a trio, the unit represents a smaller project within the broader AKB48 lineup while keeping its identity centered on Japanese pop.
French Kiss made its debut with the single Zutto Mae Kara (ずっと前から), released on September 8, 2010. That release marked the start of the group’s recording activity and introduced its sound to listeners beyond the AKB48 fanbase.
The lead song from Zutto Mae Kara was also used as the sixth ending theme song for the anime series Major. This connection to anime helped establish French Kiss as a name that appears not only in idol music but also in anime music circles.
