Franz Ferdinand

Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish indie rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2001. Built around sharp guitar lines, angular rhythms, and danceable post-punk energy, their music blends indie rock, post-punk revival, and art rock into concise, hook-driven songs. The band's line-up has included Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Robert Hardy, Paul Thomson, Dino Bardot, Miaoux Miaoux, and Audrey Tait, and they have been associated with Domino Recording Company. Their self-titled debut album, Franz Ferdinand, arrived in 2004 and became a breakthrough release, powered by the worldwide success of “Take Me Out.” The record won the Mercury Prize and established the group as one of the defining British alternative acts of the 2000s.
