Franz Ferdinand

Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish indie rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2001. Their music is built around sharp guitar lines, angular rhythms, and danceable post-punk energy. Across concise, hook-driven songs, they blend indie rock, post-punk revival, and art rock. The band's line-up has included Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Robert Hardy, Paul Thomson, Dino Bardot, Miaoux Miaoux, and Audrey Tait, and they have been associated with Domino Recording Company. Their self-titled debut album, Franz Ferdinand, arrived in 2004. The worldwide success of “Take Me Out” made it a breakthrough release, and the album won the Mercury Prize. They followed it with You Could Have It So Much Better, while later releases such as Tonight: Franz Ferdinand pushed further into texture and rhythm without losing the band's melodic core. In 2015, FFS, their collaboration album with Sparks, brought art-pop ideas into their guitar-based style. Their music has also appeared in anime: “Do You Want To” was used as the ending theme for Paradise Kiss, and “This Fffire” was used as the opening theme for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
