Biography
Dempagumi.inc is a Japanese idol group that began in December 2008 at Akihabara's Dear Stage, first appearing as Dempagumi w. Furukawa and Owada. The project quickly expanded and, in June 2009, adopted the name Dempagumi.inc after Aizawa and Yumemi joined the lineup. From the start, the group stood out for its high-energy live shows and for combining bright pop melodies with electronic elements in a style rooted in Akihabara's otaku culture.
Over the years, Dempagumi.inc has released a steady stream of singles and albums through several labels, most notably MEME TOKYO from 2011 onward, as well as JPU Records in the UK and Sony Music Taiwan. That label history reflects the group's reach beyond the domestic idol scene and its appeal to listeners interested in Japanese pop, club-influenced production, and a more playful, culture-driven approach to idol music.
The group has also gone through several member changes, with figures such as Mirin Furukawa, known for her gaming culture interests, and Ayane Fujisaki, noted for her cosplay performances, becoming closely associated with its identity. Former members Akari Owata and Moga Mogami were part of the early years and helped shape the distinctive character that made Dempagumi.inc recognizable to fans.
Dempagumi.inc has additionally built ties to anime and multimedia projects, including songs such as "Kawaii Kawaii," while maintaining a strong connection to otaku culture across its career. As an idol group that continues to evolve, Dempagumi.inc remains a notable presence in Japanese pop music thanks to its energetic performances, electronic pop sound, and long-standing relationship with the wider anime and subculture audience.
