CHEMISTRY

CHEMISTRY is a Japanese vocal duo formed in 2001 through the Asayan audition project. Made up of 堂珍嘉邦 and 川畑要, the group debuted in 2001 under Defstar Records. From the early 2000s, CHEMISTRY developed a signature sound as a Japanese male vocal act working within J-pop and R&B. Its music sits at the intersection of contemporary R&B and J-pop, built around smooth harmonies and close vocal interplay. Refined arrangements, emotional delivery, melody-driven songwriting, technically polished vocal performance, and a mature melodic sensibility are central to that style. The duo's anime-related work includes "Period," the OP of "Fullmetal Alchemist," and "PIECES OF A DREAM," the ED of "ReLIFE." Across its career, CHEMISTRY has continued to center harmony-rich performances.
