Biography

Bubblegum Brothers is a Japanese vocal duo formed in 1983 by Brother Tom and KORN. Influenced by The Blues Brothers, the pair began performing in live houses such as Shinjuku RUIDO with a show-band style that mixed black music and comedy. The duo made its major debut on EPIC・ソニー in 1985 with the single 『忘れじのエヴリナイト』. Its music combined J-pop with pop, R&B, soul, and dance elements. Bubblegum Brothers is best known for "WON'T BE LONG." Released in 1990, it became a million-selling hit in 1991 after gaining popularity in karaoke, ultimately selling about 1.7 million copies. It later served as the ending theme of Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!. That same year, the duo appeared on the 第42回NHK紅白歌合戦. As solo activities became more prominent, Bubblegum Brothers entered a long hiatus following the 1997 single 『白い砂の少女』. The duo returned in earnest with the 2008 single 『Daddy's Party Night 〜懲りないオヤジの応援歌〜』 and resumed activity again from 2018.
