Biography

Asriel was a Japanese gothic rock and symphonic metal duo formed in May 2006 and active until 2015. The project was led by composer and art director Keisuke Kurose and vocalist-lyricist Kokomi, and it emerged from the doujin music scene with a dark, atmospheric identity shaped by gothic lolita aesthetics. Released under Pony Canyon, Asriel developed a signature style built on heavy guitar riffs, classical touches, and dramatic arrangements, with Kokomi’s expressive vocals and Kurose’s compositions at the center of the duo’s sound. Across their career, Asriel moved between independent music and anime-related work, contributing tracks to the visual novel and anime industries. Their best-known anime contribution is the ending theme "Metamorphose" for Tokyo ESP, which reflects the group’s balance of intensity and elegance. Even after their disbandment in 2015, Asriel remains a notable name for listeners who follow early-2000s anisong, doujin music, and symphonic rock.
