Biography

[Alexandros] is a Japanese rock band known for combining energetic guitar-driven rock with melodic hooks and a polished, modern sound. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Youhei Kawakami, the group has built a strong reputation in Japan’s rock scene through a catalog that balances accessibility with a distinctive edge. The band was originally active under the name [Champagne] before changing to [Alexandros] in 2014 after a request from Bureau du Champagne, Japan. That same period marked an important shift in their profile, as they moved toward wider national visibility and later signed with Universal Music Japan. Their 2015 single "Wataridori / Dracula la" became part of that new era and helped establish the name [Alexandros] for a broader audience. [Alexandros] has also become closely associated with anime, film, and game themes. In 2018, "Mosquito Bite" was used as the theme for the live-action Bleach film, bringing the band further attention from anime fans. The group also contributed "Arpeggio" and "Your Song" to the Sega game Judgment, showing their versatility across visual media and their appeal beyond standard rock releases. With appearances such as their 2016 SXSW Japan Nite showcase, [Alexandros] has represented Japanese rock on international stages while continuing to develop a sound rooted in strong melodies, driving rhythms, and mainstream rock energy.
