Biography

ACIDMAN is a Japanese rock band formed in 1997, known for a sound that draws from punk, alternative rock, and other influences without settling neatly into a single category. From the start, the group built its identity around contrast, variety, and the individual character of its members. Originally, ACIDMAN was a four-member band. The lineup included Shiibashi Takeshi, Urayama Ichigo, Satou Masatoshi, and Ohki Nobuo, establishing the foundation of the group before its later changes. In 1999, vocalist Shiibashi Takeshi left the band, and Ohki stepped into the role, becoming the group's leader. That transition marked an important turning point in ACIDMAN's history and helped define the direction of the band going forward. Rather than fitting neatly into one stylistic box, ACIDMAN has continued to stand out in Japan's rock scene through a flexible musical personality. Its blend of influences and emphasis on contrast have given the band a distinct identity that remains closely associated with alternative-minded Japanese rock.
