Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden takes place on the continent of Telesis after the Great War has finally ended, when the fractured world is slowly rebuilding itself. Violet, a young girl raised to decimate enemy lines, survives the war’s final leg with severe injuries and the last words of the person she held dearest, words she cannot yet understand. As peace returns, she is left to face a life that is no longer defined by violence or command, and to make sense of what remains of her past. Her path changes after a falling out with her new intended guardian family leads her to CH Postal Services. There she discovers the work of the Auto Memory Dolls, amanuenses who transcribe people’s thoughts and feelings into words on paper. Moved by what they do, Violet becomes an Auto Memory Doll herself, taking on assignments that carry her into other people’s joys, regrets, and farewells. Each letter she writes brings her closer to understanding language, grief, and the meaning of the words she has been left with, while opening a quiet path toward self-discovery.
