In Urara Meirochou, the maze-like Labyrinth Town is divided into ten districts, and young women from across the land gather there to train as urara, diviners renowned for answering questions that ordinary people cannot. Chiya, a wild girl raised among the animals in the mountains, arrives in the town's outermost tenth district with two goals: to begin the long climb toward becoming a first-rank urara and to use that power to discover the whereabouts of her long-lost mother. Though she knows little of city life, her sharp instincts and faint connection to the gods give her a place among the other apprentices.
As Chiya settles into Labyrinth Town, she forms a close bond with three fellow trainees: the studious Kon Tatsumi, the aspiring witch Koume Yukimi, and the reticent Nono Natsume. Together they learn the customs, challenges, and responsibilities that shape life in Meirochou, from the rules of divination to the everyday discipline expected of girls who hope to rise through the city's ranks. Their lessons test more than simple talent, demanding ingenuity, trust, and determination as they navigate the winding streets and old mysteries around them. Friendship gives the group its center, but Chiya never loses sight of the truth she came to seek.
