Carnival Phantasm

Carnival Phantasm is a comedy OVA that turns the wider Type-Moon universe into a crossover parody. Adapted from Eri Takenashi's manga Take Moon and created to mark Type-Moon's 10th anniversary, the series brings together characters from Tsukihime, Fate/stay night, Melty Blood, and related works in short stories that trade supernatural tension for absurd humor. Shiki Tohno, Akiha Tohno, and Arcueid Brunestud share the spotlight with Shirou Emiya, Rin Toosaka, Artoria Pendragon, Illyasviel von Einzbern, and Taiga Fujimura, while familiar figures such as Gilgamesh and Neko Arc Chaos push each scenario even further into chaos. Instead of following a single dramatic storyline, the series moves through festival episodes, competitions, alternate situations, and exaggerated everyday encounters that play on each character's established role in the Type-Moon setting. Rivalries become punchlines, heroic standoffs collapse into slapstick, and the contrast between the Tsukihime and Fate casts drives much of the comedy. Even when it draws on recognizable lore, Carnival Phantasm keeps its focus on affectionate satire, fast-paced sketches, and celebratory crossover energy rather than canon conflict, making it a playful companion piece to several of Type-Moon's best-known franchises.
