Tamako Market

Tamako Market is set in the Usagiyama Shopping District, a lively neighborhood where eccentric shop owners form a close-knit community around everyday routines and old rivalries. Tamako Kitashirakawa, a clumsy but cheerful teenage girl, helps her family run Tama-ya, the mochi shop that has become one of the district's familiar fixtures. Her ordinary days are disrupted when she meets Dera Mochimazzi, a talking bird who claims to be royalty from a distant land and says he has come to find a bride for his country's prince. Dera follows Tamako home in pursuit of his mission, but his fondness for mochi quickly gets the better of him. After overeating, he becomes too heavy to fly back to his homeland and ends up staying with the Kitashirakawa family, where he gradually turns into the neighborhood's beloved mascot. Around Tamako, everyday life continues to revolve around friendships, family business, and small romantic tensions. Mochizou Ooji, her childhood friend, keeps hiding his feelings for her, while their fathers remain fierce mochi rivals. Between the bustle of the shopping district, Tamako's bonds with the people around her, and Dera's impossible quest, the series balances warmth, comedy, and a gentle look at growing up without losing sight of the community that shapes its characters.
