Takopii no Genzai

Takopi's Original Sin follows Takopii, a small squid-like Happian who leaves his home planet determined to spread happiness across the universe. After landing on Earth and finding himself in danger of being captured by its inhabitants, he is rescued by Shizuka Kuze, a quiet girl who feeds him and gives him the name Takopii. Grateful for her kindness, he decides to do everything in his power to bring a smile to her face. That goal proves far harder than he expects. Shizuka is bullied by her classmates, has no father, and is usually alone because her mother is never home, though the full weight of those problems goes far beyond what the naive Takopii can understand at first. Even so, Shizuka does have one source of comfort: her dog, Chappy. The bond between Shizuka and Chappy only deepens Takopii's desire to help her. As Takopii keeps trying to lift her spirits, his efforts repeatedly lead to unintended consequences. Armed only with his tentacles, his innocence, and a limited grasp of human behavior, he struggles to understand why kindness alone is not always enough, while still clinging to his mission of spreading happiness.
