SSSS.DYNAZENON follows first-year Fujiyokidai High School student Yomogi Asanaka, who one day finds a starving man under a bridge after school. The drifter introduces himself as Gauma and claims to be a “kaiju user,” someone who deals with kaiju—monsters that bring harm to the city and its citizens. The following evening, Yomogi runs into Gauma again together with his classmate Yume Minami just as a kaiju appears in a populated area. Lacking the experience to control the situation on his own, Gauma pulls a mysterious object from a glowing pouch and summons Dynazenon, a giant robot that requires the cooperation of four people. In the chaos, Gauma, Yomogi, Yume, and Koyomi Yamanaka—an unemployed man wandering the street—are dragged into its cockpit.
That first clash draws them into a broader conflict with the kaiju eugenicists, other kaiju users who manipulate the monsters with ill intent. As Yomogi, Yume, Koyomi, and Chise Asukagawa become further entangled in Gauma’s battle, they have to learn how to fight together, uncover what connects their unlikely team, and bring out the full potential of Dynazenon before more kaiju attacks tear through the city.
