Smile Down the Runway follows Chiyuki Fujito, the daughter of a modeling agency owner, who dreams of walking the runway at Paris Fashion Week and representing her father’s agency as a top model. She has the face, the presence, and the instinct for the job, but at 158 cm tall she keeps hitting the fashion industry’s most stubborn wall. Even after entering high school, Chiyuki refuses to let her height decide the shape of her future, and she keeps pushing toward a world that keeps telling her no. Ikuto Tsumura faces a different kind of limit. He has real talent for designing clothes, but without money or formal training, he can barely imagine a path into fashion school, much less a career in the industry. When Chiyuki and Ikuto meet, they recognize the same stubborn resolve in each other: one wants to model, the other wants to create, and both are fighting a system built around convention.
