Shirobako

Shirobako follows five friends who first bond at Kaminoyama High School over their shared love of anime. Aoi Miyamori, Ema Yasuhara, Midori Imai, Shizuka Sakaki, and Misa Toudou form an animation club, make an amateur anime together, and present it at the culture festival. Buoyed by that experience, they promise to pursue careers in the industry and someday work together on a mainstream show of their own. That promise becomes the heart of the Shirobako franchise as their paths diverge and reconnect around the demands of anime production. Aoi and Ema find jobs at the illustrious Musashino Animation production company, while Shizuka struggles to be recognized as a capable voice actor, Misa settles into a stable but unfulfilling job designing 3D models for a car company, and Midori keeps pushing toward her goal of becoming a story writer. Through deadlines, setbacks, and eccentric bursts of creativity, Shirobako looks at the labor behind the finished episode and the stubborn enthusiasm that can keep a shared dream alive.
