Shinmai Ossan Boukensha

Shinmai Ossan Boukensha centers on Rick Gladiatol, a 30-year-old clerk at the adventurers' guild who refuses to let go of his childhood dream of becoming an adventurer. When he meets Reanette Elfelt, a dark elf and elite adventurer from the legendary party Orichalcum Fist, he is given a chance to chase that dream at last. The welcome is not gentle: Rick is accepted only if he can survive the party's brutal Spartan training regimen, a gauntlet that pushes him far beyond the limits of an ordinary newcomer. Two years later, Rick finally steps forward to take the E-Rank exam and earn official recognition as an adventurer. By then, he carries the results of that hellish training, but the world around him remains skeptical. Raw magical power can only be developed until one turns 20, and both fellow participants and examiners treat an older beginner with open hostility. Even so, Rick enters the exam determined to prove that age, prejudice, and low expectations will not keep him from becoming an invincible warrior.
