S-Rank Monster no "Behemoth" dakedo, Neko to Machigawarete Elf Musume no Pet toshite Kurashitemasu begins when a young knight dies in battle against demons while carrying out his sworn duty to defend humanity. Instead of reward or rest, he awakens in the lowest depths of a dungeon as a Behemoth—an S-class monster of overwhelming power and one of the very creatures he once swore to protect humans from. The humiliation is immediate: in its juvenile form, this fearsome beast looks almost exactly like an ordinary orange cat. Even with the overpowered ability to absorb the skills of any creature he devours, his escape from the dungeon leaves him gravely wounded. Aria, a D-rank adventurer, finds him, nurses him back to health, and takes him in as her pet, naming him Tama. Accepting Aria as his master, Tama stakes the knightly honor of his past life on protecting her from danger at all costs, even if that means squandering the second chance at life he has been given.
