Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo (I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History) centers on a Japanese woman who has long admired Alicia Williams, the villainess of an otome game. While the game's kind and compassionate heroine is praised for her polished image, Alicia stands out to her for a very different reason: her ruthless verbal abuse, discipline, and fortitude make her far more compelling. She also finds more sense in Alicia than in the commoner heroine, who appears to do little beyond toying with Prince Duke Seeker's emotions and offering flattering lip service.
Her wish to be reincarnated as Alicia suddenly comes true, and seven-year-old Alicia awakens with the memories of her past life intact. Now aware of future events, outcomes, and the world's secrets, she refuses to accept the role of a doomed villainess. Instead, she throws herself into hard work, studies her noble family's dark magic, and uses every advantage she can to outsmart the heroine and avoid a bad ending.
With each step forward, Alicia's determination grows into a larger ambition: to become the greatest villainess in history, one whose name will be remembered not for defeat, but for the force of her will.
