In Omamori Himari, Yuuto Amakawa tries to settle into an ordinary city life after the death of his parents, leaning on the routine of school, the presence of his next-door neighbor Rinko, and the uneasy peace created by the charm that has long kept the supernatural world away from him. The one thing that never leaves him alone is his cat allergy, an irritating weakness that becomes almost fitting for a boy whose fate is tied to creatures far stranger than house pets.
That balance shatters on his sixteenth birthday when an Ayakashi, a supernatural creature, attacks him for the sins of his ancestors. At the last moment, Yuuto is saved by Himari, a mysterious cat-woman carrying a sword, who reveals that he is the scion of a family of demon-slayers and that the protective charm around him has finally lost its power. As Yuuto is pulled deeper into that hidden conflict, his life grows more chaotic: women begin appearing on his doorstep, each with her own dark desires, while the forces hunting him close in. Between the memory of his ancestors' past and the dangerous reality now surrounding him, Yuuto must decide whether he can adapt to this strange new existence or be consumed by the supernatural fate waiting to catch up with him.
