Metropolis

Metropolis centers on private detective Shunsaku Ban and his nephew Kenichi, who travel to the gleaming city of Metropolis to investigate a string of crimes in a society where humans violently oppress the robot population and a dictatorial force is tightening its grip. Their search leads them to Dr. Laughton, a scientist suspected of human organ trafficking and believed to be hiding within the city. Behind closed doors, Laughton has also created Tima, a sophisticated female android intended for Duke Red, the most influential man in Metropolis. When Laughton's laboratory is engulfed in flames after an unforeseen incident, Shunsaku and Kenichi are separated while searching for survivors. Kenichi rescues a disoriented Tima and struggles to protect her from Rock, Duke Red's ruthless foster son, who relentlessly pursues the robot girl. Unaware of Tima's true nature, Kenichi befriends her as a human being. Meanwhile, Shunsaku tries to reunite with the boy while unraveling the dark schemes moving through the city's background, including the central role Tima is meant to play in Duke Red's ambitious goal for domination.
