Mawaru Penguindrum

In Mawaru Penguindrum, the Takakura family is held together by a fragile hope. After losing their parents, twins Kanba and Shouma live with their younger sister Himari, whose frail health leaves the three of them clinging to whatever small time they can share. When a rare outing takes Himari to an aquarium, a sudden collapse seems to end even that brief moment of normal life. A strange miracle interrupts the tragedy: a penguin hat from the aquarium shop revives Himari, but the life that returns to her body is accompanied by another presence that demands the mysterious "Penguin Drum" as payment. Forced to chase that object, Kanba and Shouma are drawn into hidden connections, old wounds, and the lives of other wishmakers who are reaching for the same prize. As the mystery deepens, Mawaru Penguindrum expands from one family’s desperate struggle into a surreal web of people bound by fate, sacrifice, and regret. Every clue pulls the Takakuras closer to a future shaped by impossible miracles, where getting what you want may mean paying a devastating cost.
