Maoujou de Oyasumi centers on the Demon Lord Tasogare's castle, a dark and frightening stronghold packed with monsters, where fear should be the greatest threat to any captive. For the human princess Aurora Suya Rhys "Syalis" Kaymin, however, imprisonment means something else entirely: she has one obsession above all others, and it is sleep. Ever since the demon lord kidnapped her from her kingdom, she has not had a single good night's rest, and she is determined to change that no matter where she is trapped.
Rather than despair, Syalis turns the Demon Castle into her own improvised workshop for comfort, using whatever the fortress provides to chase the perfect nap. The fur of fluffy demonic teddy bears, the silky, blanket-like bodies of ghost shrouds, and countless other odd materials become tools in her relentless search for pillows, blankets, and anything else that might help her rest peacefully. The demons around her may expect a terrified prisoner, but Syalis remains focused on her goal, treating every danger as just another obstacle between her and a good sleep. In a place built to inspire dread, she transforms captivity into a stubborn, absurd, and oddly charming crusade for slumber, and nothing will stop the sleepy princess—not even death.
