Mamonogurai no Boukensha follows Rudd, a low-ranking adventurer mocked as the “Grubby Forager” for spending his days crawling through the Noxious Labyrinth to gather medicinal herbs. His unusual immunity skill lets him endure conditions that would overwhelm other porters, but it does little to earn him respect, status, or a place where he truly belongs.
For a brief moment, that begins to change when a party takes him in. The promise of companionship collapses during a monster attack, however, and Rudd is betrayed and left for dead. With no one left to trust and no obvious way to survive, he breaks a taboo by eating the monsters around him. What should be a desperate, grisly act becomes the turning point of his life when he discovers that their power can be absorbed through consumption.
As Rudd grows stronger bite by bite, his miserable existence turns into a dangerous, offbeat fantasy adventure built around survival, forbidden power, and sheer persistence. Even after the world has written him off, he keeps moving forward, forcing his way through a hostile labyrinth and a life that was never meant to give him a second chance.
